Rich color palette & oversized artwork
By Groove25
Wow! The colors in this book look fantastic—richer and more varied than the original English edition by Dragon's Dream, and a big improvement on the previous volume of this series (which looked a bit faded). The line art also looks wonderful. Unlike its original printing, the line art here is reproduced using halftones, which is unfortunate, but you can barely notice. The increased page size opens up details and adds a grand cinematic scale to the artwork that's quite impressive, even if its outsized-ness decreases the narrative's readability just a little.
I'm usually not a fan of reprints like this, but they got a few things right here.
That said, the original hand-lettering is sorely missed. The digital typefaces being substituted look particularly out-of-place when inserted directly into the artwork—e.g., for signs on buildings, etc. What happened to the original lettering and why couldn't it be reconstructed somehow? (I'd love to take a crack at this.) The newer translation seems fine, but I prefer the original. As far as I can tell, these Titan editions are based on previous reissues created in the 1990s by NBM Publishing—at least that seemed true for the first volume. This may explain the tendency towards clumsy digital typography.
The overall print quality seems excellent. The book begins with a foreword by Jacques Bergier. The opening and closing pages are a minor detraction, featuring attention-grabbing magazine-style credits at the front, and ads for other titles at the back, which look cheap and of-the-moment. This oversized hardcover is 9.5" x 12.5", printed on glossy pages.
BTW, my rating for this book reflects the edition quality, which is strong but with some drawbacks. The work itself is 5 stars.

Good
By russell ruins
One thousand stars for Druillet. Lob's dialogue either got muddled in translation, or just lacks the more literary, dark and dramatic tones that Druillet exhibits in the first Lone Sloane book. Lob swings closer to pulpy, cliché action/drama- not necessarily a negative, considering the era. This reads more like a Valerian book, but Druillet's art is the aspect that makes it a must-have.
